Portable Wind Turbine
There’s a new kickstarter campaign which enables you to have a portable wind turbine to charge your phone.
It is called the Trinity portable wind turbine, which speaks for itself. When the Trinity is not in use it looks like a 12′ cylinder, but when in use its legs pop out from the bottom where the USB port is and the blades appear when you open the sides of the cylinder.
The rotating blades provide the power to a 15 watt generator which then puts the power into 15,000mAh battery. With full power the Trinity can charge a phone 4-6 times before it needs re-charging. I don’t know how long it takes to charge but you can plug it into a wall socket and charge it from there. It weighs 4lbs and is 12′ when closed and has a waterproof rating of IPX6 to boot.
The Trinity is made by the people at Skajaquoda, they’ve managed to raise $48,032 of their $50,000 goal at the time of this news article. If they reach their goal they will include a phone pouch, mobile app and multi-voltage DC output which would allow charging of laptops and other gadgets. The Trinity is expected to retail at $399 but you can get one for $279 through their kickstarter campaign. If you want you can pledge the full $399 and get one in Black, Red, Green, Blue or Yellow.
