Mionix Naos 8200 Review

Hi everyone,
I have just completed my review of the excelent Mionix Naos 8200 gaming mouse. I have posted the video down below which you should definately check! If you prefer a written article then I have also posted one down below.

The mionix Naos 8200 rests at the top of Mionix’s gaming mouse lineup and therefore boasts the best of Swedish gaming technology. The mouse is almost identical on the outside to the Naos 7000 and 3200 but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing as we shall find out in just a moment.

The guts of this mouse have changed though. There is now a 8200 DPI Avago Gaming laser sensor and a reduced weight of 99g (151g inc cable). With the addition of Omron switches, ergonomic design, 4 layers of rubber coating, a 32bit ARM processor, 16.8 million colour customizable LED lighting system and 7 programmable buttons, this mouse seems to have it all.
Starting with performance, the new 8200 dpi sensor is capable of a polling rate of up to 1000Hz yet that really doesn’t mean anything. The mouse performs accurately and responsibly in the real world on a range of surfaces such as cloth, wood and even glass according to my testing. The high dpi setting is useful for fast pace gaming and can be toggled from the switches on the top of mouse.

Similarly, the ergonomics of the mouse excellent. The mouse is coated in a comfortable soft-touch finish which hasn’t faded after almost a year of use. There are a total of 7 buttons on the mouse, all easily accessible regardless of how you grip the mouse. It is possible to palm grip the mouse if you have particularly small hands however, my large glove size hands could only settle with a claw grip, all be it, still perfectly comfortable.

The new Omron switches on the Mionix Naos 8200 have a good tactile feedback however, the travel distance and resistance in the switches was too much for my liking and I found that in gaming scenarios, I couldn’t actuate the switches quick enough.

All 7 of the buttons are customisable via the Naos 8200 software. The software is intuitive and feature packed from the basic dpi settings, to lighting customisation and an auto-surface detect feature which scans your table surface and automatically configure the mouse to it’s optimal settings which was very useful in my case as I couldn’t be bothered to go through the extensive array of options which are available.

The lighting customisation on the Mionix Naos 8200 is equally fully fledged with multiple lighting modes, colours and pre-sets. The LEDs are bright and project colours with a satisfying vibrancy although, one let down was the lack of brightness control in the software which was disappointing given how extensive all the other aspects to the software are.

Finally, to put a cherry on the cake, the mouse also has a durable, braided cable and gold-plated connector which ensures a longer lifespan and prevents the cable from being ripped or torn

So, to sum up, the Mionix Naos 8200 is an excellent gaming mouse for someone who is okay with claw griping their mouse, wants a high dpi sensor, customisable lighting and a reasonable price. The people I wouldn’t recommend this mouse to however, are those of you who perhaps find claw gripping uncomfortable, do not need a high dpi sensor or require brightness control for the LEDs.

In conclusion, the Mionix NAOS 8200 is;

> Decent value for money at ~$89/€89
> Extremely comfortable
> Excellent software features
> Great aesthetics
Score: 9/10
