Cooliris On Android!
Finally, Cooliris has put their app on to the Google Play store; 2 years after the Apple iOS launch in July 2012.
Cooliris is the app that puts photos from most of the social networking sites in one place.
If you don’t know what Cooliris is it is a media app that puts photos from 15 different networks in one place, to create a unified gallery to share content with your friends and look at their photos.
Some of the services supported are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Dropbox, Flickr, Gmail, Evernote, Google Drive, your messages and others. Cooliris has over 40 million registered users across the internet and mobile in the US, where its largest market is.
It started initially as ‘Liveshare’. It was only for the web before the company made the media hub a separate service for mobile. It has spent the past 18 months localizing it for overseas markets. It is pairing with local partners in Russia and China, and adding other networks.
CEO Soujanya Bhumkar is very optimistic that the android app will help it gain use overseas. He stated that “An Android app has been by far the number one user request worldwide,” even in Asia where android devices can be 80% of the smartphones on the market. However, even with the amount of Android devices in Asia, he thinks that the iOS will account for the majority of the users, for now.
Cooliris for Android initially requires at least Android 4.1, but the CEO says they are working a series of updates to have more stability with the older versions.
